Since May 2019, Poolwerx has been a trusted name in the Canterbury pool care scene, bringing Poolwerx to the South Island for the first time. What began as a small team has grown into a community of pool owners who now rely on us for expert service and advice across Canterbury and beyond.

MEET THE TEAM

Mark Bennett

Franchise Partner

Mark has been in the pool industry in Christchurch since 2015 having previously worked as a Pool Technician in an employee capacity before establishing Poolwerx Christchurch. Mark has a passion for pools and he specialises in keeping pools and spas healthy and providing ideas on how to make the most of your pool. He particularly enjoys installation projects but equally takes pride in leaving a pool sparkling clean. Mark was honoured to be awarded the SPASA New Zealand 'Infield Service Techician' and 'Professional of the Year' in 2021, this acknowledged his dedication to the industry and enthusiasm for his work. In his spare time, you will likely see Mark out paddling his kayak on the Avon River and he is kept busy following the activities of his two daughters.

Michelle Bennet

Franchise Partner

Michelle has extensive experience in customer service and administration, having worked in a number of different roles previously including a Sports Administrator for the Arawa Canoe Club, Customer Services Officer for AMI Insurance, a New Zealand Travel Specialist in London and other travel industry roles. Michelle provides administration support for the Poolwerx team as well as building her expertise in the field as required. She doesn't get much spare time in between working and PA duties for 2 daughters but when time permits you might spot her out walking her dog Storm and her favourite thing is to find a walking track in the great outdoors away from the city.

Alex

Swimming Pool & Spa Technician

Alex Steele joined Poolwerx in December 2020 after relocating to Christchurch from Auckland where he spent 6 months in the pool industry after Covid-19 brought him back from London. One of Alex’s favourite things about his job is spending time outside and turning a pool from green to clean. In his spare time Alex enjoys keeping fit at the gym, snowboarding in the winter season and is a keen supporter of Rugby League and Rugby.

Liam

Swimming Pool & Spa Technician

Liam Macey joined the Poolwerx team in September 2024. With a background as a qualified glazier and experience in bathroom renovations, Liam brings a strong practical skill set to his role. His primary responsibilities include installing new equipment and troubleshooting spa issues. When he’s not tackling technical tasks, you’ll often find Liam supporting our valet team with regular servicing. Outside of work, Liam enjoys hitting the golf course and spending quality time with his family. One of his favourite aspects of the job is designing and installing great-looking pump sheds with new equipment. Liam is also known as a bit of an animal whisperer—he loves meeting our clients furry companions during site visits.

Alessandra

Swimming Pool & Spa Technician

Alessandra joined Poolwerx in 2025 bringing a passion for good results and a great work ethic. She takes pride in assisting clients to get the best out of their pools and spas and always ensures services are completed with the highest level of care and attention to detail. Outside of work, Alessandra enjoys being in the outdoors, riding her horses, going on adventures and she also enjoys whipping up cakes and other sweet treats. Alessandra always goes the extra mile, especially for clients pets; they will be feeling spoilt after getting cuddles and treats.

Operational

Since joining the Poolwerx team in March 2026, learning the ins and outs of pools and spas has been an entirely new experience for Anne who comes from Customer Service background. She has a knack for picking things up quickly and loves helping our clients. In her spare time, she enjoys spending quality time with her family and gardening.

We were really pleased with the service we got from Mark and Michelle. From the very first phone call, Michelle was so helpful, we were having trouble with our pool being cloudy and green and we had a party coming up that we needed it to be in tip top shape, they were able to come out within a few days and get the pool clear and we needed a new part which they ordered and had installed well before the party, the pool looks great. We were so pleased with service we have now booked a regular fortnightly service. Would thoroughly recommend them

Have worked with Mark & Michelle & the team for several years now. We finally bought a Dolphin this summer - oh my goodness! Life changing! Can't recommend it enough. All those hours back in your hands and it does a fabulous job. Sand, grass, leaves, walls, stairs, you name it, it does it.
