Benefits of Mineral Pool Systems

Pool Minerals, Magnesium Pools and Pool Mineral Systems can be a great option for your healthy swimming pool. In the video below, we take a deeper dive into pool minerals and their benefits and differences to salt water pools. While many of us are familiar with the ‘slip, slop, slap’ approach to sun protection, there are also ways to make healthier choices for our skin and overall wellbeing when it comes to pool water. One such choice is a mineral pool system.

Mineral Pools: What Are They And How Do They Work

Did you know your body can absorb up to 500mls of pool water for every hour of swimming? This means that the quality of water you’re swimming in can actually impact your overall health. We already know about slip, slop, slap when we get in the water, but there are other ways we can make healthy choices for our skin and our body. This includes switching your pool from salt or chlorine and implementing a mineral pool system.

What Are Mineral Pools?

Mineral pools offer a healthy alternative to chlorine or salt water pools. Rather than using chlorine and salt, they draw from natural minerals that soak into your skin and hair while keeping your pool water clean and clear. You may have already heard about magnesium pools or the benefits of magnesium for the body. Well, mineral pools contain magnesium, as well as a range of other minerals, such as potassium. These can enhance your overall swimming experience and allow you to access benefits that were only possible previously through natural springs or resort spas. Essentially, mineral pools can turn up the luxury and the healthiness of your swimming environment.

Here are some of the advantages of converting to a mineral pool system.

The Benefits of Mineral Pools

Why are mineral pools good for you? It comes down to the beauty and wellness benefits the minerals within the pool can provide. This is particularly advantageous for people with sensitive skin and eyes, or those with skin conditions like eczema. It’s also much better for your joints and tendons since you can take the weight off them and experience a healthier, more relaxing swim.

HOW MINERAL POOLS DIFFER FROM STANDARD SYSTEMS

So, what’s the difference between a mineral pool and other pool systems?

The difference between mineral and chlorine systems comes from adding minerals instead of salt to the generator or pool water. These minerals include magnesium chloride, sodium chloride, salt, potassium chloride and borates. Through a process called electrolysis, your chlorinator will convert minerals into small chlorine doses and distribute these throughout the pool water. Mineral pools also contain a sanitiser to keep anything nasty at bay as well as water-balancing chemicals.

Salt water pools on the other hand, draw upon dissolved salt in the water to generate chlorine. So contrary to what you might think, a saltwater pool is not actually chlorine-free. You are essentially creating your own chlorine from salt rather than adding chlorine straight to the system.

Mineral Pool Maintenance

Mineral pool maintenance is easy. When mineral pools become unbalanced, you may feel a slippery substance on your pool floor. These are not to be vacuumed – they’re the minerals! Vacuuming these is like vacuuming money, so it’s a simple matter of rebalancing your water and these globs will go back into circulation.
